Side by side
Pont looked down. The gorse and dried grasses seemed particularly bright and sharp today in contrast to Avon, drifting lazily along, enjoying some late afternoon shade cast by nearby firs. Pont, being the connecting soul that it was, contemplated the togetherness of a couple taking a break on its back. Projected onto Avon’s rocky bank, Pont’s safety rail seemed to be guiding them towards peaceful flowing waters as though from hardship to calmness. It thought, there may well be a few ‘rapid’ moments on their journey still to come, but with their hearts illuminated as they are, nothing will tear them apart.
Looking over the safety railing of this bridge, I was taken by how my life to this point was written in the scene below. Bridges join, they connect and, in the shadows below this bridge was a joining of soulmates, on a journey from one life to another, a voyage from sharpness and pain to a promise of calmness and serenity that only being adrift on a gently flowing river can provide.
