Au revoir
A cool breeze carried briny air from the channel, over the mountains and towards the beach. Cwmwl did not waver, just slowly and softly waxed and waned in the atmospheric fluctuations of the sunlit bay. Below, Môr looked up at its growing child, willing it on its way. Then, leisurely turning towards the beach, its fingers picked lazily across the sandbanks back to the algae doused rocks it left that morning. Cwmwl knew its future lay in the valleys of the hills and mountains, but reluctant to leave the safety and comfort of home, waited a while, building the confidence needed to face the coming journey.
I spent a good few hours watching this cloud. It would sometimes split in two or disappear completely but always reappeared in the same spot between these two mountain peaks. I found myself wondering what it was watching, what it was waiting for and when I remembered that clouds were born of the sea, I realised that Cwmwl was simply saying au revoir before its overland adventure.
